Subcommittees
NAMACB has three subcommittees. These subcommittees support the NAMACB Board of Directors (BOD). The subcommittees are board certified professionals with wide experience and diverse training. The subcommittees have a NAMACB Board member as the chair position and volunteers as members.
The NAMACB Board of Directors sets the direction of the subcommittee. Subcommittees submit their completed tasks as motions to the BOD at which time the BOD will either pass the motion as submitted or will send it back for refinement. Once a motion is passed it will become either a formal policy or a modification to a current policy and recorded in the BOD records.
Ethics and Disciplinary Review Panel
The NAMACB’s Ethics and Disciplinary Review Panel (EDRP) evaluates complaints against certified Ayurvedic professionals and can impose sanctions when required. The panel is composed of NAMACB-certified Ayurvedic professionals and individuals with experience in healthcare ethics.
The NAMACB seeks to protect the public interest by establishing and maintaining the highest ethical and competency standards. In the event that an applicant for certification has a record of prior disciplinary action, the NAMACB Ethics and Disciplinary Review Panel (EDRP) will review the matter and has the discretion to deny the application. Disciplinary matters that will be reviewed by the EDRP include, but are not limited to, the following:
Misrepresentation of any item on the application
Conviction of a criminal felony that may indicate lack of moral fitness to practice a healthcare profession/healing art
A ruling assigning liability to the subject of the complaint in a judicial or administrative proceeding based on allegations concerning professional competence or conduct related to a healthcare profession/healing art
Situations in which the applicant is facing a limitation, suspension, or revocation of his or her license to practice a healthcare profession in any U.S. state or jurisdiction as the result of a violation of a federal or state law or regulation that applies to a health-related profession
Exam Development
This subcommittee works with an exam testing development company and a team of psychometricians to create new certification exams and to review and update existing exams. The group comprises subject matter experts in the discipline of Ayurveda and rotates members on a regular basis.
